Triple Drama (14)
Romeo and Juliet... need I say more?

Yes, I'm back! 82 people commented on the poll and 79 out of 82 wanted me to continue. So I thought; it's gonna take a lot more than 3 people to make me quit this story, so enjoy!

***********************************************

"Hey! Wait up!" Nicole called to Aislinn. It was just after last bell and she was trying to catch up to Aislinn who seemed to want to get away from school as soon as possible. "What's the hurry?" She asked panting.

"I'd really like to not stay in school longer than I have to," Aislinn replied. "Plus, I have an audition to practice for."

"What audition?" Nicole asked.

Aislinn sighed. "You can be so out of it sometimes. Come on, don't tell me that you haven't heard about the 'Romeo and Juliet' play! It's such a romantic story and I'm auditioning for Juliet."

"Sounds interesting," Nicole mused. She always loved Shakespeare.

Aislinn's eyes glinted mischievously. "You should try for Juliet. I heard Dan's trying for Romeo," she said suggestively.

"Yeah... I don't think so," Nicole replied. "Jake's not trying Romeo?"

Aislinn sighed. "I wish! He doesn't like Romeo and Juliet." She shook head like it was the most disappointing thing she had ever heard. "Stupid boy..."

"But anyway, I wanted to ask you something," Nicole started. "It came to me when I met Daniel's family."

"Oh," Aislinn's mouth formed a perfect O. "That serious, huh?"

Nicole groaned. "You and Megan would definitely bond well. You're both crazy."

Aislinn gave up. "If you say so. Back to your question though."

"What do your parents look like?"

"What?" Aislinn asked confused.

"You have to resemble a bit to them, don't you. Daniel has his dad's eyes and his mom's hair. So does anyone have red hair like yours?" Nicole asked.

"Yeah, my mom has the same red shade of hair as me," Aislinn replied and suddenly felt a bit relieved. Nicole frowned, thinking about it. "What about you?"

Aislinn's question snapped her back. "I've got my dad's hair," Nicole replied.

Aislinn frowned as well. "Same shade?"

Nicole nodded. "Where's Bailey?"

Aislinn shrugged then suddenly smirked. "But Reggie probably knows where she is." She quickly fished out her cell phone and sent him a quick text.

Aislinn: Where's Miss Moody?
Reggie: Doing her job at grocery store down Wimbleton Street.
Aislinn: She has a job?!
Reggie: Do u think her mom goes to work? Or dad? Wow, you're definitely not the smart one :P
Aislinn: Says the one who doesn't have the guts to ask a girl out.
Reggie: Can I talk to her NOW?
Aislinn: Yeah... NO!!

"So, where's she?" Nicole asked watching Aislinn's face as she texted furiously.

Aislinn looked a bit reluctant when she answered. "She's doing her shift at the grocery store down the block."

Nicole didn't notice the edge in her voice. "Do you have her number?"

Aislinn bit her lip. "You know what, let's just talk to her later. We don't want her to get in trouble at work," She glanced at Nicole's watch. "Besides, I need to get home and practice." She hoped that Nicole hadn't noticed the change in topic.

Nicole sighed. "Fine, I'll talk to her later." She looked back at the school which was almost abandoned. She had a feeling that Megan had definitely left without her.

Aislinn seemed to read her mind. "I don't see Megan. Wanna a lift and some company?"

"Thanks," Nicole replied, smiling gratefully. "I don't know what's going on with her today," she commented as she walked along with Aislinn. Aislinn stopped at a flashy red convertible and pulled out the keys from her bag. Nicole couldn't help it; she stared at the car.

"Why does everybody seems to have the coolest cars, I've ever seen," Nicole wondered aloud as she got in.

Aislinn grinned. "I'm guessing you've seen Danny's car." Nicole rolled her eyes at Aislinn's cheeky tone. "Come on, Nicky! You've gotta audition for the play! Plus, we get extra credit for taking part!"

That peaked up Nicole's attention. "We get extra credit?"

"Yeah," Aislinn said rolling her eyes. "Do you seriously not care about anything but studies?"

Nicole grinned at her. "No."

"Can't believe I'm related to someone without a single romantic bone in their body. It's a good thing I have enough for all three of us."

***********************************************

Megan walked down the road in deep thoughts. At the back of her mind, she felt guilty for leaving Nicole without a single word. But at the moment, she needed some time alone. She was suddenly snapped back to reality when a voice interrupted her reverie.

"Walking alone, again? There's just no convincing you, is there?"

Megan smiled to herself, feeling his presence just behind her. "Are you a stalker or something?"

"No, we just happen to have the same path." He answered.

"As to your question," Megan said, "no, there's no convincing me." She paused then asked, "Can I ask you something?"

"Depends on the question," he said shrugging.

Megan gave him a side glance. "You don't seem like the club going type. How did you end up there?"

To her surprise, he laughed low under his breath. "Yeah, I'm really not the club type. My mom made me go."

The irony of his reply made Megan stop walking but since he kept on walking, she quickly caught up to him. "Your mom made you go? That's the strangest thing I've ever heard. Why would she do that?"

"She said I should do something like a typical teenager for once," he replied, sounding amused by his mother's thinking.

"You really meet my friend, Nicole," Megan said, "You two would get along really well."

By then they had reached Megan's house. Before going inside, Megan turned to him and admitted, "You know I actually came to apologize and thank you for yesterday. You know after I slammed the door in your face..."

Alan laughed louder than she had ever heard him. She hit his shoulder so hard that he almost fell. "Why are you laughing?! I just apologized and said thank you! You're not supposed to laugh!" She half yelled at him.

"Sorry," he said trying to keep a straight face. "It's just I've never seen anyone being as dramatic as that-"

"Ugh! You're unbelievable!" Megan threw her hands in the air and shut the door behind her.

"Second time you've done that," she heard him call out. She looked out of the window and saw him walking down the road with a hint of a grin on his face. Unbelievable, she thought shaking her head but smiling too because she, Megan Stewart made Alan Redmond, aka. Mr. Maybe-I-Can't-Smile, laugh.

***********************************************

"I cannot believe you dragged me into this," Alex whined groaning. His annoyance grew bigger when Daniel didn't even look at him as he scanned the crowd for someone. Alex was just surprised that so many people even wanted to take part in that dorky play. It was a good thing the auditorium was so huge or they'd be squashed.

So he knew he shouldn't have let Daniel drag him away from his comfy sofa enjoying some popcorn while watching dumb stuff on T.V.

"Who are you looking for?! I'm standing right here!" He yelled into Daniel's ear.

"You didn't have to yell," Daniel complained rubbing his ear. "Just looking for Nicole," he replied absent-mindedly.

Alex stared at him with his eyebrow raised. For the first time since they got there, Daniel turned to look at him. "What?" He asked, questioningly.

"Are you okay?" Alex asked cautiously.

"Yeah..." Daniel answered wondering where he was going with this.

Alex put his hand on Daniel's forehead. "What are you doing?" Daniel asked slapping his hand away.

"Just checking to see if you're okay," Alex replied shrugging. "You've been acting... weird lately. No dates for a week now, 'Romeo and Juliet' and now Nicole," Alex said ticking off the things with his fingers.

"I like Romeo and Juliet," Daniel said defensively.

His eyes suddenly lit up and a smirk formed on his face. He turned completely towards Alex. "Imagine two teenagers in love," he grabbed Alex's hand, ignoring the bewildered look on Alex's face, "fighting against the world," he waved his arm around them, "just to be with each other." He wrapped his free arm around Alex's shoulder pulling him closer.

"You'd better not kiss or hug me," Alex warned.

"Mr. Clifte and Mr. Mason," a sharp melodious voice called out. Madame Gabrielle appeared. She was petite middle-aged woman who wore old-fashioned clothes and kept her long straight black hair in a tight bun. "This play is called 'Romeo and Juliet'," she told them sternly, "not 'Romeo and Romeo'."

Everyone gave little fits of laughter. Daniel instantly let go of Alex, who looked at ground fighting the urge to laugh along with the others. But Daniel shamelessly grinned at Madame Gabrielle, knowing that she was too much of a softy to do more than give him a stern look.

And he was right. Madame Gabrielle clapped her hands loudly to get everyone's attention. "This year, we're going to perform the play 'Romeo and Juliet' for the showcase. You all have artistic talents and this is the perfect way to show," she met every eye in the crowd, making sure that they were listening, "I want you all to do the best you can and take no role as small. Everyone has an important part to play no matter how small."

Most of the students looked skeptical at the remark. Alex was 100% sure that most of them were here for the lead. Madame Gabrielle finished her speech and the auditions began.

Aislinn waited patiently for her turn while quietly rehearsing her dialogs. She was almost sure that she could be Juliet, but as she cast her eyes around the people around her, she knew she had competition. Brenda Cortex tapped her heels impatiently not even bothering to do a last-minute rehearsal. Bree Mathews was furiously muttering the dialogs under her breath and Aislinn knew for a fact that Bree would do just about anything to get the lead. Even Sally Hart was eying every girl as her rival.

Nicole, on the other hand seemed to be the only girl who was content on just reading the script with no care about whether or not she would get the role.

"You seriously don't want the lead?" Aislinn asked unable to contain herself.

Nicole shrugged. "I'm not trying for Juliet anyway; I'm trying for her understudy."

Aislinn looked at her with her mouth hanging. "Who in their right minds would try for somebody's understudy?!"

"Me," Nicole replied cheerfully. Aislinn shook her head at her; there was no freakin' way she could be related to that girl. Suddenly, she caught sight of another red-head.

"What are you doing here?" Aislinn asked Blair who came to stand next to them, astonished.

"For taking part in the play," Blair answered in a 'No, Duh' tone while rolling her eyes.

"You're trying for Juliet too?" Nicole asked with more control of her surprise.

Blair snorted. "As if. I'm just going to be with the backstage management."

"You're doing this for extra credit," Nicole stated. Blair nodded.

"You two are just unbelievable," Aislinn concluded while Nicole and Blair grinned at her disappointment.

"Aislinn King!" Madame Gabriel suddenly called. Blair and Nicole gave an encouraging push as Aislinn strolled on stage. Sally gave her a thumbs up. But she could see Bree's and Brenda's glares on her back. Just ignore them, she told herself. She looked onto the audience and met Alex's eye. He smiled at her and mouthed 'Good Luck'.

"Scene five, at the Capulet's Hall," Madame Gabrielle informed.

Aislinn smiled confidently. She was expecting this scene. Madame Gabrielle continued, "Daniel Clifte, same scene with Miss King."

"Aren't you lucky," Daniel said, smirking as he came up next to her.

"Oh, I'm just dying with gratitude," Aislinn shot back sarcastically. But in fact, she was relieved that at least it wasn't some creep. They were both natural when it came to acting and the whole auditorium burst into applaud when they finished. They exchanged a grin.

Madame Gabrielle clapped the loudest. "I suppose I don't have to tell you two that was magnificent acting," she said smiling.

Aislinn high-fived Daniel as they went off stage. "We are so in!" They both yelled out. They were praised by nearly everybody backstage. But Nicole noticed a few people, particularly the girls, looking at Aislinn and Daniel with envy. Bree slumped into a chair looking very defeated and Nicole suddenly felt sympathy for her. It couldn't be easy to see a girl get everything she wanted.

"I wouldn't be sure about your part, King," a nasal voice caught their attention.

Daniel groaned. "Give it a rest, Brenda!" Everyone was suddenly quiet. Brenda's voice had that effect on people.

Brenda narrowed her eyes on Aislinn who looked back with equal hostility. "Oh, so you're defending her too," Brenda said without taking her eyes off Aislinn.

Daniel sighed. "Yes, because she's a friend."

Brenda turned her eyes towards him. "Just a friend?" Her mouth suddenly formed an unpleasant smile and Alex noted how her eyes flickered to Nicole for a second. "Old feelings die hard," Brenda continued on. This time she nodded towards Nicole very visibly. "Is that why you like the newbie? Because she looks like her?"

Alex's mouth almost hung open. He couldn't believe she could be that sick. He sneaked a side way glance at Nicole. She was frowning and so was Blair who stood beside her. Nicole turned to Alex. "What are they talking about?" She asked while Blair looked at him expectantly.

"You didn't tell her?" Brenda asked innocently, her sharp ears catching Nicole's question. "There's nothing to hide so why are you keeping her in the dark?"

"That's enough, Cortex," Aislinn spat out. "It was nothing and that's why it's nothing worth telling."

"What the hell is she talking about, Aislinn?" Blair demanded impatiently.

"That she still likes Daniel," Brenda answered instead, "Even though they're not dating each other now." She turned to Nicole to see her reaction causing everyone to stare at Nicole too.

Nicole just stared at Brenda's face. She heard those words and she knew it was nothing to get upset about. Daniel was just some jerk she had met. But then she asked herself why she suddenly felt like crying right there and then. Aislinn cast her widened eyes to Nicole, dearly hoping not to see any hatred for her.

Blair read the look on Nicole's face and almost automatically grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the prying eyes. "Don't you dare start crying now," she whispered furiously into Nicole's ear.

Aislinn's shoulders dropped. She wanted to follow Nicole, explain everything but she knew right now, Nicole was best left in Blair's company. She turned her eyes to Brenda. "This is too sick, Brenda. Even for you," she nearly whispered. Instead of hate, she felt only sympathy for Brenda. People, she believed, became what they were for a reason.

Alex came to her and tugged on her hand. "Let's just get out of here," he whispered, concerned by Aislinn's face. Aislinn followed him, mute.

Brenda's narrowed eyes followed Aislinn. She saw that sympathetic look, the look that had always taunted her. She was cool and collected on the inside but rage flared inside her. Who the hell did Miss-Popularity think she was, giving her, the Brenda Cortex, that look?! She suddenly felt Daniel's eyes on her.

He looked at her, his expression unreadable. All the cockiness and playfulness vanished. "You are the most disgusting girl I've ever met." He didn't scream or shout. He was calm as if stating a fact, his face cold as he looked into her dark eyes. And just like that he walked away leaving everyone buzzing with talk.

Sally shook her head at them. It was just like a soap opera to them. But Daniel and Aislinn weren't the only people who had the guts to talk to Brenda. Sally saw Bree and Brenda arguing with each other quietly. Bree looked frustrated while Brenda's face remained stubborn.

Sally sighed. Things were suddenly starting to become really complicated.

Triple Drama (15)
Aislinn and Alex fans, this is for you!

Since, my last post was like a month or so ago...

Recap

Jealous of Daniel and Aislinn being a complete shoo-in for Romeo and Juliet, Brenda reveals that Daniel and Aislinn had once dated and hints that they still have something going on. Nicole is surprised by how much that hurts her and Blair, not wanting the people to see Nicole's tears and make fun of her, takes her away. Daniel is disgusted by Brenda, so her plan backfires on herself. Alex feels the sudden urge to make sure that Aislinn is okay seeing her unusually sad face. Meanwhile, Alan has taken the responsibility of dropping Megan safely home which both warms and offends Megan.

********************************************************************

Chapter 15

Alex stared at her, completely dumbstruck.

"Please," she whined.

Blank face.

Aislinn snapped her fingers in front of his face. "Are you deaf or something?"

"You," Alex finally said, pointing at her, "want to go... shopping!?" He had somehow made it sound like a sinful act.

"I like to shop when I'm sad," Aislinn replied off handishly. "And right now I am very sad." Being the perfect actress she was, misery filled every detail of her face and echoed in her voice as well.

They were just standing beside Alex's scooter. For some weird reason which Aislinn could not fathom, Alex loved his blue scooter even more than Aislinn loved her convertible. And that was saying a lot.

"Nice try, Princess," Alex scoffed. "But if you want to go shopping, I'm definitely not going to escort you there." As if to prove his point, he swung his leg over the scooter and fastened on his helmet.

Aislinn really didn't want to spend some time alone. Shopping really did cheer her up, but she needed some company as well. But she really didn't fancy going back in the auditorium and facing all the prying eyes; all her girlfriends were still giving their auditions anyway. "Please," she pleaded going along with the 'cute and innocent' look as her friends called it, according to them, she could get people to do anything if she used it.

Peaks of being the drama queen.

"Nope," Alex answered digging inside his backpack for the keys.

It was time for a different strategy.

"Fine!" Aislinn huffed, pouting. Literally pouting with her arms crossed over her chest, frowning at him. Alex had never met someone who was as skillful at pouting. He wasn't even looking at her but he could feel her staring at him. His hands suddenly felt too shaky and sweaty.

Aislinn began to count inside her head.

1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6...

"Okay fine! Just stop giving me that look!" Alex cried and muttered something under his breath.

"Thanks!" Aislinn chimed breaking her face into a bright smile.

"You owe me big time, Princess," Alex warned as she got on. He was desperately hoping that she didn't live up to her reputation of being one of the biggest shopaholic in school.

Some time later...

"This thing is slow," Aislinn complained as he drove down street. This would have irked Alex to no extent but after hearing for the sixth time, he decided to take some drastic measures. He wouldn't like it but at least his beloved scooter's dignity would stay intact.

He took out his last piece of gum and offered it to her, who took it without protest. Goodbye, gum, he thought glumly. At least now he could drive in peace.

Half an hour after they got to the mall, Alex was starting to think that Aislinn had lived at the mall all her life. Almost everyone seemed to wave at her as she passed by them. What was with girls and malls?

"What do you think pink or blue?" Aislinn asked making him look up from his phone.

Alex stared at the skirts in her hand. "You do know that I'm not one of your girls or gay?" He asked rhetorically.

"Stop being such a guy," Aislinn retorted, rolling her eyes at him. Boys... It's like they'll lose their manhood by showing a teaspoon of emotion, she thought.

"Fine, blue," Alex snapped. Like he even cared.

Aislinn frowned. "I like the pink one too."

I'm going to become a mental patient, Alex realized. "Hold on for a second." He dashed out before she could reply. There was only one person that came to his mind who could help him.

"She's driving me crazy, Dan," he said as soon as Daniel said hello.

"Who're we talking about?"

"Aislinn," Alex said. "I took her to the mall because according to her, they cheer her up."

"She asked you to choose between two dresses or something, right?" Daniel asked knowingly.

"How'd you guess?" Alex asked baffled.

"You've never taken your date to the mall, have you?" Was is it just him or did Daniel sound highly amused?

Jerk.

"You better get me out of this," Alex said darkly.

"Whenever she asks for your opinion, just tell her that she'll look pretty in both," Daniel offered.

"That actually makes sense," Alex said sounding insultingly impressed.

"Thanks a lot, buddy," Daniel said sarcastically.

"By the way, any idea where Blair took Nicole?" Alex asked.

"At Reggie's house," Daniel answered promptly.

"And you know that 'cause..."

"I have my sources," Daniel answered smugly. "She's in good hands."

"You scare me sometimes, Dan," Alex thought aloud before ending the call.

An hour later, both Alex and Aislinn's arms were loaded with shopping bags. They weren't even for Aislinn. Probably deciding to torture him some more, she had made him try on what seemed like a thousand outfits. Aislinn had a fit of unladylike giggles when an old lady with bad eyesight, mistook him for her grandson who was conveniently wearing the same mickey mouse shirt that Aislinn forced him to try on. Even half an hour later, Alex's cheeks were pink from the pinching.

So basically, he was now officially broke plus he owned an 'adorable' Mickey Mouse shirt.

To get some payback of his own, he had convinced Aislinn to chug down two large milkshake (she was in the misconception that they were calories free, owed to Alex) coupled with a mega cheese burger.

"I'm gonna throw up," Aislinn moaned to which Alex gleefully offered the bag which had previously held his chicken wings. "If I go to school tomorrow looking like Garfield, I'm going to sue you!" She glared and groaned at the same time.

"Spoken like a true princess, Princess," Alex replied grinning. "Besides if you wanted to sue me, you would've done it the time, put a dozen slugs inside your locker." Ah, the look on Aislinn's face at that memorable moment.

"Thanks for the reminder," Aislinn groaned, feeling more and more like puking all over Alex's adorable smirking face. Aislinn's eyes widened as the word adorable came to her mind. Great, now she was having a brain freeze too from those awfully icy large shakes. "You'd better get me home before I turn that green shirt into vomit green," she threatened him.

"Do you cheerleaders even eat food like normal people?" Alex wondered aloud as he and Aislinn found various places on the scooter to hang the bags on.

"Yes, we do," Aislinn restored defensively. "But you, Mickey, eat like a pig."

Alex just shrugged not even minding the new nickname or insult. "That is called eating normally."

"Then we clearly have different meanings for the word 'normal'," Aislinn replied airily.

"Yes, clearly," Alex imitated in a British accent while putting his nose in the air and half-closing his eyes like the British people in their history books.

Aislinn burst out laughing even though the joke was at her expense. She playfully hit him on his shoulder. "You're such an idiot, Alexander Mason!" Alex just grinned widely like it was a compliment which, Aislinn reasoned, probably was.

It was starting to get dark outside by the time they reached Aislinn's mansion of a house. Aislinn and Alex attempted to sneak past her parents with the bags, but an indignant voice stopped them from behind.

"Aislinn King, what, in the name of God, are those bags for?"

Cursing silently, Aislinn turned around with a sweet smile coming face to face with her Mom and Dad. "Hi guys, how was work?" Aislinn asked enthusiastically. She knew how passionate her parents were about their work. Her Dad had set up his own company and raised it to the skies while her Mom was head of the community which worked for social so most of her time was spent.

Alex gave her a side glance. Princess definitely knew how to charm people.

But he gulped when they turned their frowns on him. "And who are you, young man?" Mr. King asked. "Not Gibson, obviously," he said referring to the 'boyfriend' while running his eyes down as Alex's street boyish clothes.

"Ah, this is Alex, Daddy," Aislinn answered putting her 'daddy's little girl' voice to use. As expected, his expression melted a little.

"Alex?" Both her parents said together looking taken aback.

"The same one who knocked apple juice all over your favorite dress in freshman year?" Mrs. King inquired.

"Who hid your new cell phone for a week?"

"Who you said gave your homework to his dog on purpose?"

"Who put inching powder in your tennis shoes?"

"Who stole your personal diary?"

"Who-"

"Okay, okay!" Aislinn gasped. "I remember! No need for you guys to remind me!" Without meaning too, she shuddered at the memories. Alex had a twisted imagination.

"Oh." Alex's mouth made a perfect 'o'. Those pranks really didn't sound so awful at the time when he and a couple of his other friends set them to action. Most of those had been his friend, T.J's ideas anyway. Now, it just felt wrong. "Uh, that Alex! He moved away a few weeks ago," Alex lied flawlessly. "No, he was some other Alex. Very common name, you see."

Both parents seemed relieved. Taking their distraction to an advantage, Aislinn said, "See you guys at dinner! We'll just put these upstairs!" She had already dragged Alex with her up the spiral staircase by the time she finished her sentence. She threw open her bedroom door and closed it in case, her parents called her.

"Gosh, that was a close one!" She exclaimed throwing the bags into her walk-in closet. "Right, Alex?" She turned around to see Alex hastily shoving sunglasses on his face. "What are you doing?"

"Protecting my precious eyes from the pinkness of this evil room." Alex had again managed to make Aislinn's favorite things sound sinful. He was scowling at the horrifying bright pink shades of the room. "How have your pretty eyes managed to survive, Princess?" Seriously, he almost went blind if not for his sunglasses.

A second later, he was hit by an increasingly fluffy pink pillow. "Pillow fights? Very mature, Princess." He smirked at her.

"Ugh, you are so annoying that it's unbelievable!" Aislinn threw her hands up. Alex noticed that the tips of her ears went red too which made her look like a tiger's cub.

It was just a minute later that Alex found himself shoved outside the house, but he was too busy laughing at Aislinn's face to resist her from throwing him out. "Sweet dreams, Princess!" He called... as he stumbled down the porch due to the force of Aislinn's push.

Aislinn was completely annoyed out of her mind, but the evening passed through her mind and she found herself doubling up with laughter on her bed. As annoying as Alex was, he was sure one hell of a shopping companion.

********************************************************************

Blair choked back the hysterical screams that she was dying to cry out any minute. The sounds were getting to her. She wondered if this was Reggie's way taking out revenge on her. They had been at it for an hour now, for God's sake!

A groan reached her ears and then she cracked.

"Stop it already!" She screamed out. "I can't take it anymore!"

Startled, Nicole and Reggie looked up from their fifteenth game of snakes and ladders. Blair used to love playing it when she was younger. But now her deepest desire was to burn it in ashes and feed it to the fire to make sure it was completely unusable. At first, she had been glad that Reggie had stepped in and succeeded in occupying Nicole's attention. But sometime after the eighth game of the wretched game, her blood had started to boil.

"But I'm winning," Reggie said as if he would rather be murdered than quit.

"I can still catch up," Nicole injected. "Besides I've already won seven times."

"Since you're a girl and I'm a nice guy, I was letting you win," Reggie insisted.

"How the heck can someone purposely lose in Snakes and Ladders?" Nicole demanded.

"Oh my God!" Blair interrupted them, horrified to the soul. "What's wrong with you people?! It's just a dumb game!"

"Oh," Nicole said as if realizing something, "Do you want to join us?"

Blair stared at her like she had a third eye. "No. No! NO!" She clutched her hair to keep herself from killing one or both of them like an animal. Without waiting for their reaction, she almost ran out of her room to the closest room away from hers i.e Reggie's room.

Nicole winced as the door slammed shut.

"It's a good thing that my Mom and Dad are always out when there are doors slamming around," Reggie mused not reacting at all. "Your turn."

Since Reggie was obviously at ease, Nicole rolled the dice. "Is she always as grouchy as she is now?"

"No, she used to be a pretty cheery child, fierce but still cheery." Reggie smiled at the memory of the little girl who Blair used to be before all of this. She was still the same girl, just really deep down.

"You must know her for a long time," Nicole observed as he played his turn. "Can I ask you something?"

That sounded ominous but Reggie waited for the question. Taking his silence for a yes, Nicole said, "She was really angry at you the other day but she seems to be living here?" It came out as a question.

"We made up," Reggie answered shortly, not wanting to tell her that he convinced his Mom to make Bailey stay as long as she liked knowing that she couldn't say no the woman who was almost like a mother to her. Mrs. Collin was more than happy to. Reggie knew that she was secretly hoping that Blair moved in and that she hated the idea of her alone in the apartment.

In truth, Blair had been avoiding him and he didn't know what to do. That was something he had to discuss with the cupid's assistant herself, Aislinn King.

"So where does she live?" Nicole asked nonchalantly. It reminded him of the time when Aislinn had asked similar questions, but Aislinn herself and already called to know if Nicole was there and recounted the incident in the auditorium.

"Near school," Reggie replied trying to sound with just as much ease. But he was a horrible lair as his parents and Bailey had told him many times.

"So how are her parents? Does she lived with them or alone?" Nicole was intrigued about her mostly grouchy but sometimes nice sister. Aislinn and her glamorous life was an open book to her but she knew next to nothing about Blair.

These were the exact questions that Reggie was hoping to avoid. If he lied, which he would have to, he would get caught, seeing as Nicole wasn't exactly the dense one.

"I..." He dragged out the word with no idea about what he was going to say next. Nicole kept looking at him expectantly. Just when confusion was drawing on her face, a miracle happened.

Reggie's cell phone rang.

He instantly fished it out of his pocket relieved to look away from Nicole's innocent and now distracted face. It was an unknown number.

"Reggie speaking," he said. I owe you, random person, he added inside his head.

"Oh thank God! I was so worried! I have to thank Danny again! I have no idea as to why he even has so many contacts. But I knew he would especially when it comes to Nicky! Seriously, he's been a better friend than I have lately. I-" A female voice rambled much to his surprise.

"Uh, not to be rude or anything," he interrupted, "but who are you?"

"Right, sorry but I tend to forget things like that," the girl paused and Reggie realized that she had only paused to take a mouthful of air. "Anyway before I forget, Megan speaking. I assume Nicole's with you and Bailey." She made it sound as if they were a couple, but maybe that was just Reggie's imagination going wild. Thanks a lot, he thought sarcastically, Aislinn.

"It's for you," Reggie said handing over the phone, "at least I think so." He hadn't really been able to absorb much of the girl's words which were rushed into each other. He quietly left the room to give her privacy.

"Hello?"

"Nicky? Finally! Do you know how much trouble and phone calls I went through to get through to you?" She demanded as soon as she heard Nicole.

"Hmm... this must be my friend, Megan, the girl who has been ignoring me for two days now," Nicole replied more than a little annoyed.

"Yeah, sorry about that," Megan said sincerely, "But we can talk about that later. There are two things I really want to talk about?"

"What two things?"

"No. 1, you go audition for Juliet without even mentioning it-"

"Not my fault!" Nicole defended herself. "I kinda just went for it in the spur of the moment."

"And No. 2, I was wondering if you're okay after..." Megan trailed off softly.

For a second, Nicole was stunned. "How did you...?"

"Rumors and news spread like wildfire now," Megan answered immediately. It was actually Daniel who had called her and told her to call Reggie to make sure that Nicole was okay. He had also made her promise not to tell Nicole that. It was so sweet of him, Megan thought smiling.

"Oh, I'm fine. Reggie is really good company even if Bailey is a little temperamental," Nicole assured her. "But where have you been these days?"

Megan sighed. "This world is far too small, Nicky. You have triplets and apparently I have a dead look-alike." She explained Nicole all about Julie.

Nicole was open-mouthed by the time she finished. "What have we gotten ourselves into, Megan?"

"I seriously have no idea, Nicky."

Reggie was just about to go out for some fresh air when a panicked voice reached his ears. It was coming from his room and the door was open.

"What do you mean someone already has?!" Bailey was saying with a cell phone to her ear. Her knuckles were almost white from clutching on to it so tightly.

Curious, Reggie leaned against the doorway. His eyes met Blair's and she gave him the slightest nod which was the first direct gesture she had made to him in two days. Almost cautiously, he walked into the room and settled into a chair across from where Blair stood.

"I want to know who this person is," Blair demanded then paused to hear the reply. Her free hand curled into a fist as she listened on. "I can't?" She hissed barely opening her mouth. "I'm her daughter, I have every right to know! ...Confidential?! You've got to be freaking kidding me! ...Me, specifically?" At this point, she had gone from savage anger to unbelievably frustrated. "If you can't even give me the damn name then at least contact me as soon as you find out anything," with that she cut off the call and threw her phone on the bed.

She stood exactly where she was for a second, shaking uncontrollably. Then she sank down on the floor and buried her face into her hands. Alarmed, Reggie was next to her in a second, putting an arm around her shoulders. "What happened?" He asked in a low tone.

Bailey raised her head from her hands, her arm fell limp to her sides. She wasn't crying. That was as much as Reggie had expected. She had come too far to give up that easily. Her face was perfectly composed as she spoke, "I told them, the police," she said looking straight ahead and not meeting Reggie's eyes. "I told them that she was missing for three four days now. But I was too late. Somebody already did, earlier today. Some woman who told them not to tell anyone, me especially. Someone noticed that my mother is missing. Someone who isn't my father."

Now she turned her head to him. Her face was still expressionless but Reggie knew her long enough to know that those deep hazel eyes were both screaming and crying. As he had countless times in the past, he gently took her hand and squeezed it. "Your sisters are here even if Nicole does know yet, my parents are here," he took a deep breath and simply said, "And I'm here."

Without another word, Bailey buried her head into his shoulder. This time she was shaking with tears. But instead of feeling weak like she thought he would, she felt too freakin' good.

I'm so sorry for being so late but all my work was thrown out the window when our laptop got busted.

Hmm, so someone reported Mrs. McCown missing? Some lady? Who could it be? Any guesses? This is the point when the tale of the triplets' past starts to reveal...

Triple Drama (16)
Danny + Nicky fans will like this.

The phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Ma'am, I just wanted to inform you about Mrs. McCown."

"Well, what are you waiting for? Did you find her?"

"No, but her daughter just reported her missing yesterday-"

"And you're telling me this now?"

"Sorry but-"

"Any news you get of my friend, you report it to me first and then her daughter. Understood?"

"Yes, ma'am."

The call cuts off.

******************************************************************************************

Daniel glanced into his locker and mentally groaned. He had forgotten to restock his supply of snacks, again. Now, how was he going to get through class? The answer came to him almost instantly.

Alex.

Alex always kept a dozen packets of gum in his locker. He wouldn't notice if one was missing. As if, the more sensible part of him said. But being Daniel Clifte, he ignored it as usual. He got to Alex's locker and flickered his eyes left to right. No Alex in sight.

"Nice try," a voice startled him from behind, "But he changed his combination a week ago."

Daniel turned to see a smirking T.J. behind him. "How do you know?"

T.J. grinned somewhat sheepishly, closing his own locker which was right across Alex's. "I was doing the same thing you were."

Daniel groaned and ran a hand through his hair. "Great, just my luck!" He felt very unusually frustrated today. Just because of her. Not that he was thinking about her or anything.

His eyes suddenly landed on a girl fumbling with her locker combination. "Hey, uh," he glanced at the name on the journal in her arms quickly, "Justine!" She looked kind of familiar so Daniel guessed that she had some classes with him.

The girl, who was apparently, Justine looked startled at being addressed by him. "Are you talking to me?" She squeaked.

Definitely the shy and quiet type everything about her screamed from her mousy brown hair to her cowering posture. This was of course very much expected. Now this was what Daniel had expected from Nicole. Who knew he'd be the one chasing her? He suddenly felt frustrated again. No, he wasn't chasing her, was he? Forget her and focus, the playboy inside him scolded him. He didn't need her.

Daniel tuned into charming mode and flashed a 'heart-melting smile' as girls called it at Justine. "You wouldn't happen to have something to eat you, would you?"

Justine blinked, her cheeks flushing. "I-I, uh..." She hastily dropped her eyes and reached inside her. "Chocolate?" She presented it out with a shaky hand.

"Thanks," he said gratefully as he took it.

"You are one cruel guy," T.J. stated as he saw the poor girl flee away.

"Says the guy whose only entertainment is making girls cry," Daniel restored back, tearing the wrapper off.

"Touche," T.J agreed.

Just when Daniel was about to take a bite, the chocolate went flying away from him and he was being dragged away.

"Hey, what are you doing, crazy chick?" T.J. called out to the redheaded girl who pulled Daniel along with her like he was a rag doll.

"Feel grateful that I don't have time to make you eat those words," the girl called back and that was when Daniel realized that she was none other than Blair.

"What the hell, Blair?!" Daniel snapped as she stopped behind the staircase at the corner. She's Blair, not her, his mind reminded him. Better safe than sorry; that was his motto when it came to dealing with Blair.

Blair leaned against the wall with her arms crossed and simply arched an eyebrow.

"People die from famine and you..." Daniel made helpless gestures at the now dirty hence uneatable chocolate that he would now, never get to eat.

Blair rolled her eyes and sighed. "Listen, I have no idea what that meant and frankly, I don't care." Suddenly, she pushed herself away from the wall and Daniel was pushed against the wall. "Now, I'll say this only once and you'd better get it through your thick skull, Pretty Boy."

Though he would never admit it, Daniel had never been afraid of someone like he was then of Blair. Taking his silence as a yes, Blair continued, "I don't know and don't even want to know what happened between you and Ash, "kay? But you'd better make it up to Nicole."

For a moment, disbelieve won over fear. "Why do you care?" Daniel asked.

"I don't have to answer that," Blair answered smoothly. "And neither does it matter. All I can say is that I never want to look at another board of Snakes and Ladders again."

This time Daniel arched an eyebrow. "I'm sure that involves a long story. But she doesn't want me around so why bother? I had two classes with her. She didn't even look-" He would have continued but he heard his name being called.

"Daniel!"

He found himself looking at the person in question, Nicole. She was striding towards them, her face livid. She stopped two-feet away from him, not even acknowledging Blair. "Did you do it?" She demanded. "Or was it Aislinn?"

"Huh? What are you talking about?" Confusion colored his face.

"Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about!" Nicole snapped.

"He doesn't," Blair intruded calmly.

"What the hell are you both talking about?" Daniel asked bewildered.

"That play, Romeo!" Nicole said glaring. "The cast list was just put up. A certain person signed me in for Juliet's understudy." Her eyes glared at him accusingly.

"It wasn't me, I swear," Daniel insisted.

"It was me." Both Nicole and Daniel turned to Blair, astounded.

"Why?" Nicole spoke for them both just as confused as Daniel.

"Didn't you say you wanted that role?" Blair used Nicole's own words against her.

"I did but-" Nicole flattered.

"But what?" Blair interrupted. "You wanted it and you got it. I don't see the problem." She glanced at Nicole's wrist watch. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have work to do." She slid out from between Nicole and Daniel and stopped for second beside Daniel. "Do what you do best, Pretty Boy," she whispered into his ear.

She walked off leaving the others staring at her back. Nicole suddenly realized that the hall they were in was deserted and she was alone with him.

Apparently, Daniel had realized the same thing. He opened his mouth but before he could even utter a single word, Nicole said, "I've gotta go too". She didn't even meet his eyes and hurried away. "Congratulation, Romeo." Somehow the words slipped out just because deep down she had felt that he had really wanted the role. I should really just try keeping my mouth shut, she told herself, almost running away from him.

He would've stopped her but the bell rang and he had to get to his class because he did, in fact, have actual work to catch up on. This was certainly the weirdest day he ever had and to top it all off, he didn't even get to eat the chocolate.

******************************************************************************************

Frustrated, Megan slammed the newspaper down creating a loud echo around the quiet library. The librarian gave her a dirty look and Megan muttered a sorry. "This is useless, Nicky," she said making sure her voice was low and curled back in her seat.

"Don't give up now," Nicole whispered back. "Think, do you remember anything else at all?"

"Her name was Julie, that's all I know," Megan said discouraged. "I don't know what her full name was or when she died, or where she died, or how she died and even if Julie is her real name or just a nickname!"

Nicole leaned back in her seat and turned away from the computer screen. She looked at Megan, studying her. Megan was always very cheerful that it sometimes irritated Nicole but now she looked like she'd lost her best friend. "Megan?"

"What?" Megan said glumly, looked up.

"Do you like Alan?" Nicole asked bluntly unable to rephrase it any other way.

Megan's eyebrows shot up. "That's a dumb question," she answered. "Of course I do. He's nice, as nice as a guy can be, even if he is a bit weird sometimes with those sudden mood swings."

Nicole stared at her, wide-eyed. Megan caught her expression and suddenly retraced her words, her eyes widening. "No, no! I don't mean it like that!"

"Really?" Nicole asked skeptically.

"Yeah," Megan answered quickly, a little bit too quickly. "Besides it wouldn't even matter," she added staring off into space.

"Why?" Nicole asked frowning.

"It's obvious, isn't it?" Megan's eyes focused on Nicole. "He's so obviously not over Julie. Hell, none of his family is."

The twins' and their mom's reaction definitely proved that.

"Why are we researching on this girl again?" Nicole glanced at the sack of newspapers that they had been through.

"What do you mean? It's not everyday that we come across one of our seven look-a-likes, do we?" Megan replied referring to the article that they had just read about it being a fact that an average person had seven look-a-likes in the world.

Nicole shook her head. "No, that's not it. If you want to know, why not ask Alan himself?"

"Too awkward," Megan sighed.

"The twins?"

"Too young."

"His Dad?" Nicole suggested.

"I don't even know if he has a dad."

"You're being down right depressing, you know?" Nicole couldn't but be concerned.

Megan sighed the now all too familiar sigh again. "I know."

"Fine, what about his Mom?" Nicole was not willing to give up that easily.

This suggestion seemed to satisfy Megan who considered it while chewing on her lower lip thoughtfully. But before she could decide on it, Nicole spotted a friend coming towards them. "Hi, Justine," she greeted the mousy looking girl. Justine had a few classes with them and was easy to befriend her as she was just as nerdy as them.

A dreamy smile was etched on her face. "Hi guys," she drawled out in her usual quiet voice.

This caught Megan's notice and she instantly leaned forward. "What's his name and when do I get to meet him?" Nicole almost laughed out loud. Alan didn't seem to be the only one with sudden mood swings.

Justine giggled settling into a seat beside Megan. "Too apparent, right?"

"Justine Susan Ross, don't you dare keep me in suspense any longer!" Megan threatened.

"Two words," Justine said taking Megan's threat seriously, "Daniel Clifte," a dreamy sigh, "In the whole two years and five classes with him, has he never noticed me," another sigh, "Until this fateful day."

She was too zoned out to even recognize the uneasy looks on Nicole's and Megan's face. As if suddenly realizing what she said (or rather who she said to), Justine suddenly looked at Nicole and blurted out, "I'm so sorry!"

Megan had definitely been right about rumors being like wildfire; Justine wasn't the type to gossip. If she knew what happened, so would everybody else.

Nicole smiled rather tightly and briskly said, "It's okay. It really doesn't matter." And it doesn't, she repeated to herself for the hundredth time.

Justine looked down and an awkward silence followed until the bell suddenly made them jump. Justine got to her feet and asked, "Coming to lunch with me?"

Megan nodded and stood up as well but Nicole stayed glued to her seat. "I'll, um, catch up with you guys later. I'm not hungry today," Nicole excused. No, it probably wouldn't be wise to mention that she didn't even have breakfast today.

Justine shrugged and said, "See you later." Megan, however, narrowed her eyes not fooled at all. Nicole pleaded with her eyes for Megan to understand. "Whatever you say," Megan agreed reluctantly following Justine out.

With the entire library empty except for her and the cranky librarian, Nicole got up to select a book to pass time. She pulled one about World War II. She had report due on it anyway even if it was a whole week away. She was just a few pages through it when she heard the seat beside her shift.

"Nice to see that I'm not the only one spending their lunch here."

Startled, Nicole's head snapped to her side to see Alan smiling faintly at her while pulling out a book from his backpack. But after a moment's thought it made sense; she realized that she had never actually seen Alan having lunch with anyone.

"Not a social butterfly, I'm guessing?" Nicole smiled back.

"Nicole, right? Megan's friend and part of the redheaded trio?" Alan guessed.

"For a quiet guy, you sure keep up with gossip," Nicole teased.

"Hard to avoid in High School," Alan restored.

"Alan Redmond a.k.a. Megan's knight-in-shinning-armor, honored to meet you," Nicole said putting out her hand. She had to bit her tongue from restraining to say "Megan mentions you. A lot." She felt all too comfortable with him. Now, this was the kind of guy she should be with, not certain egoistic, totally-out-of-her-league players.

Alan shook her hand with his strangely warm, long-fingered ones. "You too." They lapsed into a comfortable silence, both absorbed in their own books.

But life just wasn't that easy because just a few minutes later, a shadow fell on Nicole breaking her concentration. She desperately wished she didn't know who it was even before looking up.

"No surprise finding you here," Daniel remarked taking a seat opposite to her so that there was no way she could avoid meeting his eyes.

"What do you want?" Without even meaning to her voice sounded icy even to her own ears. The sudden change even made Alan look up from his book in surprise.

Daniel didn't even flinch. As expected as this was, it was just as disappointing but didn't appear on his face. He simply dropped a brown paper bag, which she hadn't noticed, in front of Nicole. "Just thought you might need something to eat," he replied smoothly.

Nicole blinked, surprised. Just a glance inside made her mouth water at the sight of the huge, cheesy slice of pizza. It was practically saying, "C'mon, Nicky, you know you wanna just gobble me up... C'mon, Nicky, just one huge bite won't hurt... You want to..." Damn, that slice knew her.

Alan cleared his throat. "You know what, I'll see you later, Nicole." He started to get up but the sudden panic running through Nicole prodded her hand to fly out in front of Alan, stopping him.

"No, you stay," Nicole said forcefully. Diverting her eyes to Daniel, she continued, "I think that's all he had to say."

Daniel tsked at her, mockingly disapproving. A smirk tugging on his lips. "If it makes him comfortable, let the poor guy go."

"No," Nicole drawled out gritting her teeth, "He wants to stay. Right, Alan?" She didn't even look at Alan.

"No," Daniel drawled out imitating her, "He wants to leave, don't you?" He didn't bother to look at Alan either.

Fuming, Nicole leaned forward still keeping her arm in front of Alan. "He. Wants. To. Stay." She snapped.

Smirking, Daniel leaned forward as well. "He. Wants. To. Leave." He found her anger very amusing for some reason.

It was now very hard for Nicole not to strangle him right there and then. Worse, her arm was starting to hurt.

Alan didn't know which desire was stronger. The desires, to stay to watch their entertaining competition or to respect their privacy and leave, were conflicting.

"Why. Are. You. So. Persistent?" Nicole leaned even further in, wanting nothing more than to slap away that growing smirk. The only thing that stopped her from pouncing at him was the table between them.

"Why. Are. You. So. Stubborn?" He was leaning in too. They were almost nose to nose.

Alarmed, now all Alan wanted to do was blot out before he saw anything that he shouldn't but Nicole had her hand gripped on the other side of his chair which blocked his only exit.

Is it just me or is the room suddenly heating up, Alan thought faintly, extremely uncomfortable.

To his relief, someone cleared her throat very loudly. "Miss Stanley and Mr. Clifte, do I need to tell you two that this is a library, not some social club," the librarian warned, glaring at Nicole and Daniel.

But it was enough, the moment was broken and Nicole was suddenly aware how close they both were. What the hell had gotten to her?! No one, no one had ever made her feel that angry. She hastily dropped back into her seat as did Daniel.

Now in control, she was no longer glaring like she wanted to claw off Daniel's face but Daniel was still trying to stop smirking at her. She had a sudden lost expression on her face which made him want to smile even wider.

"Um, Nicole," Alan broke into her thoughts politely, scratching the back of his head uncomfortably, "Can you just, uh..." Alan trailed off gesturing at the arm that was still keeping him locked in place.

"Oh," Nicole muttered removing it. "Sorry." She felt blood rush to her face; Alan must have thought she was some kind of animal, by the way she was reacting to a person who had bought her a slice of pizza, for God sake!

Alan released a deep breath, realizing that he'd stopped breathing for a moment. That had seriously been scary for him.

"Do I have to say it?" The librarian said glaring at them.

"Excuse me?" Nicole asked stunned at the hostility in the librarian's tone.

"Get. Out," the librarian said with her teeth gritted. Nicole just stared at her as if not understanding the words. Daniel realized the danger and stayed where he was too. That just made the librarian even more angry because she suddenly started screaming, "BOTH OF YOU! OUT! OUT! OUT!" She was pointing at the exit, her wrinkled face red.

She didn't have to say more; Nicole practically ran out with Daniel at her heels. She was panting on her knees by the time she stopped.

You just got banned from the library, some part of her informed. The blood drained from her face but she was suddenly brought to the present by a breathless voice beside her.

"That," Daniel panted, "was," another pant as he got up from his knees, "AWESOME!" He just got banned from the library! How cool was that?!

'What?!" Nicole raised her head to see Daniel with a huge grin on his face. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" She screamed. He was the reason she was in this situation, in the first place.

Daniel looked merely surprised at her outburst but it was only a second later that a smirk came upon his face. "Hmm, so you are capable of swearing? Gotta say; I'm impressed."

Nicole looked at him with a look that clearly said "Did your mother drop you when you were a baby or are you just naturally a complete and utter moron?" Instead she just screamed, "You're insane!" She gave him one last glare before storming away. Ugh! Where was a gun when you needed it?

"Real cute, kitten!" Daniel called after her. Her anger was totally epic.

"You really are good at what you do, aren't you?" Daniel turned to see half a smile on Blair's face who was tilting her head against the wall. She had somehow managed to appear to him like magic.

"Did anyone ever tell you that you are the most amazing in the scariest way possible person that I've ever met?" Daniel was unconscious of the fact that he was walking towards her and had her engulfed into a bear hug in no time.

"You're welcome," Blair said with some amusement in her voice, "But seriously. Let go of me before I have to make you." There was no need to say it twice because he released her and retreated a few steps back immediately. Blair grinned, the first true grin he had seen on her face as she looked at him approvingly. "Good boy," she said and while walking away she called over her shoulder, "I believe my job is done and you know what to do next."

Crazy chick, Daniel thought as he leaned back against the wall. But he knew that he definitely liked her and somehow felt that she approved him too. Who knew that the scary one was a matchmaker too?

He looked at his watch. Just an hour left till rehearsals. Something told him that they were going to be quite interesting.

Author's Note

Sorry about this being mostly about Danny and Nicky. Also ignore the slightly blurred pic. One more thing before I forget again. While I was skimming the previous chapters I realized I typed that it was the triplets' Sixteenth birthday. Correction: It was their Seventeenth birthday!!!
